Concrete pipe and connections – Sanitary and storm sewers
Standard BNQ 2622-126 Reinforced Concrete and Unreinforced Concrete Pipes and Monolithic Lateral Connections for Evacuation of Domestic Wastewater and Storm Water
BNQ 2622-126 specifies the physical and dimensional properties of prefabricated reinforced and unreinforced monolithic pipe and lateral connections. It also gives certain indications of the classification and designation of the pipe, sampling, control and testing measures, and marking. The standard applies to:
Reinforced and unreinforced circular concrete pipe to be buried (gravity flow and transport of storm or domestic waste water or both);
Reinforced concrete monolithic pipe and lateral connections of a diameter of 200 mm to 3,600 mm;
Uneinforced concrete monolithic pipe and lateral connections of a diameter of 150 mm to 900 mm.
The standard is intended for pipe manufacturers and requires that they apply general requirements (shop drawings, materials, curing, joint angle, flowline, etc.) and certain specific requirements by type of pipe.

Certification Offer
After becoming familiar with the standard, the manufacturer’s next step is to have its products certified. BNQ’s certification program for reinforced and unreinforced concrete monolithic pipes and lateral connections for sanitary and storm sewers was designed for this purpose and is based on four documents setting out the program’s requirements, including certification protocol BNQ 2622-951.
Protocol BNQ 2622-951 defines the certification requirements, procedural rules and marking requirements that apply to certification of pipes and connections covered by BNQ 2622-126. It is intended for pipe manufacturers interested in having BNQ recognize their products’ compliance and for clients seeking to use the certification protocol. To have their pipe certified, manufacturers must demonstrate that they meet the certification program’s requirements.
This certification program is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
