The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) has given the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) the mandate to develop a National Standard of Canada concerning the following subject: reducing the risk of inflow and infiltration in new sewer construction.

The content of the standard will draw on the report published in November 2019 and entitled Reducing the Risk of Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) in New Sewer Construction. This background paper sets out the findings and recommendations compiled by Norton Engineering, the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR), and Engineers Canada to limit the risk of leakage during sewer construction.

If you have specific expertise related to infrastructure and are interested in sitting on the standards committee, please contact us by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
