Concrete pipe

Standard AWWA C303
Concrete Pressure Pipe, Bar-Wrapped, Steel-Cylinder Type

AWWA pipe standards are widely used by pipe manufacturers in North America. The AWWA C303 standard specifically covers the manufacture of concrete pressure pipe with steel-cylinder and wire reinforcement in sizes from 10 in. (250 mm) through 72 in. (1 830 mm), inclusively, and for working pressures up to 400 psi (2 760 kPa). If the purchaser and the manufacturer agree, a pipe may be manufactured that exceeds those sizes and pressures. Note that the standard does not include requirements for the design, maintenance, delivery, laying, on-site testing or disinfection of pipes and fittings.

Manufacturers of concrete pressure pipes with steel-cylinder and wire reinforcement can benefit from having their pipes recognized as meeting the AWWA C301 standard, since the certification of their products by the BNQ is a sign of quality for customers. To certify their products, manufacturers must demonstrate to the BNQ that they meet the requirements of the certification program based on the AWWA C303 standard.
