BNQ 2621-905
Ready-Mix Concrete — Certification Program

Concrete is one of the most solid and durable materials. A vital part of the Québec economy, the concrete industry consists of nearly 60 producers and 170 certified plants throughout Québec. Its production involves many operations that all have a role to play in the quality of the product. To foster the growth of this industry in Québec, it became necessary for a BNQ certification program to be put in place for ready-mix concrete. As a result, the BNQ 2621-905 certification program was developed using the applicable requirements for the production of concrete in the CSA A23.1/A23.2 standard. The program is for ready-mixed concrete producers wishing to have the BNQ, as an independent third party, recognize their product as being compliant.

The program requirements deal with materials, storage facilities, manufacturing (component measurement, batching plant, mixing and delivery) and concrete properties, including durability. Note that the program does not include concrete formwork, placing or curing.

With the best means to gain recognition of the quality of their product, concrete producers can ensure that they maintain the trust of their customers in the years to come.

Certification Offer

The ready-mixed concrete certification program of the BNQ focuses mainly on the five following categories of requirements:

  • management of the quality system;
  • control of materials, fabrication and delivery;
  • quality control of the product;
  • measurement, testing, analysis and improvement.

Aware of extra value associated with a certified product and the credibility resulting from a rigorous certification process, numerous clients require concrete from a plant with a valid compliance certificate. These clients include the following:

  • Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable;
  • several municipalities, including Montréal, Laval, Québec City, Sherbrooke and Drummondville;
  • Hydro-Québec;
  • Régie du bâtiment du Québec;
  • Garantie de construction résidentielle;
  • Centre de référence en agriculture et agroalimentaire du Québec.

This certification program is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.
