Today, recycling has become a highly attractive option for reducing the amount of new materials used for road infrastructure and backfill. In this regard, standard NQ 2560-600 classifies and establishes the physical, chemical and intrinsic characteristics and fabrication features of recycled materials used as aggregates and manufactured from concrete, hot mix asphalt and brick residues (concrete or clay) supplied by dry material or construction/demolition site material depots. It prescribes the requirements governing the following:

  • classification and designation (RM recycled materials and CB recycled materials);
  • general requirements (composition of recycled materials);
  • specific requirements for RM-1 to RM-7 recycled materials (sampling, classification, granularity, intrinsic characteristics, fabrication characteristics, complementary characteristics and environmental characteristics related to metals, metalloids, other inorganic compounds and organic parameters);
  • special requirements for CB recycled materials.
